Napa Valley - Calistoga

Mark was taking off the Friday before we headed to Carmel to meet his friends from Ivey there, so we decided to go north and do Calistoga for a night. Calistoga is the most northern part of Napa Valley, and is a very sleepy, little town. I found a Comfort Inn room for just over $100 a night, (thanks AAA discount!)

We headed to 2 wineries the day we arrived, then found a great deal for hot springs and a mud bath, so we decided we should do it since Calistoga is known for its mud baths. We topped off the night by hitting a grocery store and buying some bread, olives, cheese and salami and eating it with paper plates in our room :)

The next morning after our free breakfast (which is was actually pretty decent) we headed into Napa to find the Kara's cupcakes so we could bring Steve's daughters some as a treat. We decided we should hit one last winery on our way out.....
Vincent Arroyo winery. Family owned, and our tour guide Rick was AWESOME! He gave us a lot of samples.
Lots of wine.
Tool used to go into the barrels and get us samples (these were samples the other groups didn't get :)
Rick, our tour guide, finding petit syrah wine for us to try!
Getting the wine out!
Leaving Arroyo, check out the olive trees lining the driveway!

Pretty views.
Checked into our hotel!
Known for its Zinfandels.
Zoe :)

Tasting room - we met the owner - she started this after cashing in stocks from Cisco :)
Down the road from our hotel.
Went here for some wings and a drink.
Taking a drive....

Mud bath time!

Chillin in the hot springs hot tub.
Our mud baths - stinky!
After our mud bath, there is a hot springs hot tub in corner of the room, so you wash off in the shower and then jump in the hot tub. They have lime and cucumber infused water waiting for you beside the hot tub. After 10 minutes, you jump out, and move to a room where they cover you in blankets to relax, and put cold cloths on your forehead (seen below)
Mark trying to be funny.
All relaxed, but it's time to get up! Time for bed...
Across from our hotel the next morning, there was a hot air balloon launching!

Bubye Calistoga!
Caught a glimpse of Beringer winery, where we will be going with Arend and Joann in June!
Cupcakes....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Baby treats! (left) Banana Caramel (right) Dark Chocolate fudge filled.....mmmmmmmmmmmm
To Judd's winery, last place before we head home.

We bought a bottle of this because it was so good. But it only made it to the next night.
Beautiful patio weather!
Sniffing the barrel.
The creator of the winery was an artist - he has since passed, but his art is displayed all over.

Our tour guide (also conveniently named Rick) - he was great!
If you look really close, you can see the bunnies running after one another on the driveway.
Homeward bound......
....so many wineries!
